Spam is the use of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately.
Most of us get way too much Spam in our Inbox and email Quarantine. Some you never see because it is blocked. To reduce Spam email and potential viruses within them:
¨ Be careful what Web sites you give your email address to. Spammers can collect email addresses by using automated tools to harvest the address from Web sites you’ve visited. The fewer places your email address shows up on the Internet, the fewer places spammers can collect it.
¨ Avoid the following, as all of these actions just verify for the spammer that they have a good, valid email address.
- Don’t buy any products or services advertised in spam
- Don’t reply to the spam email
- Don’t click any links provided
- Don’t click the “Unsubscribe” link unless it includes mention of the CAN-SPAM Act.
